Jazz Rising Star Showcase ft. Ben Malynoski

Catch a rising star- Hartford-based jazz saxophonist, Ben Malynoski, is an up-and-coming jazz musician, currently studying Jazz Saxophone at The Hartt School (University of Hartford) in Hartford, Connecticut.

Born in 2002 in Seoul, South Korea, and raised in Northampton, Massachusetts, BEN has been around music his entire life. After graduating from Northampton High School in 2021, BEN has gone on to attend the Jackie McLean Institute of Jazz at the University of Hartford and is currently working towards a BM in Jazz Saxophone Performance.

BEN plays heavily within the hard bop and straight ahead styles, but looks for influence in all types of music. His playing has been heavily influenced by saxophone legends such as Dexter Gordon, Sonny Rollins, and cites John Coltrane as his biggest influence.
