PROFESSOR HARP: As a young man, “The Professor” witnessed Blues Harp Legend George Smith’s Harmonica Prowess in 1969 at a Boston club and the rest is History! Professor Harp was so blown away by George that he put down the sticks (Professor Harp originally played drums), picked up the Harp and took to it!!! In 1975, a friend brought Professor Harp to a Boston area Muddy Waters show in which he was introduced to Mud in the green room. It was suggested that Hughie (Pro Harp’s given name) sit in with the Blues Icon and Father of Electric Blues. Mud invited Professor Harp up to the stage and played so much to Muddy’s liking that Muddy gave him an open invite to sit in anytime! Since then, the Professor has been fronting his own popular Blues band and has played with many greats including the likes of Luther “Guitar Jr.” Johnson and “Solomon Burke” (who actually gave/honored “Professor Harp” with his life long moniker!
DAVE ROBBINS: Blues Harp Burner & Vocalist Dave Robbins was a side-man for Boston’s “West End Blues Band” from 1991-1999. Dave formed “The Robbins Blues Band” in 2000 playing clubs throughout New England. From 2012-2016, Dave was an original member of Connecticut’s “Easy Baby”.
Nowadays fans know Blues Harp Burner and Vocalist, Dave Robbins as Bandleader for popular New England Regional Blues Act, “The Amplifires”. Since early 2018, Dave has also become a member of The Mud Morganfield Band (Muddy Waters’ Firstborn Son), and has also been seen working with the legendary Chicago Blues Great, Lurrie Bell as well as up and coming Blues Star Rockin’ Johnny Burgin.
For 30 years Dave has travelled throughout New England and beyond playing clubs, festivals and roadhouses, as well as supporting nationally touring acts and/or sharing the stage with such notables as Anson Funderburgh feat. Sam Meyers, Ronnie Earl & The Broadcasters, Southside Johnny and The Asbury Jukes, Junior Wells, Matt Guitar Murphy, Darrell Nulisch, James Cotton Band, Junior Watson, Spin Doctors, David Foster and The Shaboo Allstars, Mitch Shakour, James Montgomery, Sugar Ray Norcia, Steve Guyger, Sugar Ray & The Bluetones, Dennis Gruenling, Bruce Katz Band, Ricky King Russell, Johnny Hoy, Matt Stubbs, Neal Vitullo, Michael Williams, Rockin Johnny Burgin, Mud Morganfield and many others.
RYAN HARTT: Blues Harp Master and Vocalist, Ryan Hartt leads successful CT Blues band “The Blue Hearts” and has done so steadily since 2000. Since it’s founding, Ryan Hartt & The Blue Hearts” have gained popularity playing countless shows in and beyond the Northeast. Ryan and the band have recorded 3 CD’s and have several awards including Top 8 finalists in the IBF Best self produced CD, IBC competitors in 2004, 2007 & 2010. Voted best Blues band by Hartford Advocate reader polls and CTBS challenge winners 2003, ‘04 & ’09. Ryan can be seen playing shows with his band and a who’s who of Blues Stars when they pass through New England, just about any night of the week!
DREW BLOOD: If you are a Blues Harp fan and haven’t seen (or heard) Drew Blood, you are in for a Huge treat! Mr. Blood has been performing throughout Connecticut for many years. Drew is also a very soulful vocalist and great band leader. Fans will know Drew by his work as frontman extraordinaire with Carl Ricci & 706 Union Ave. Drew can also be seen filling in with popular CT Blues Band, Jr. Krauss & The Shakes
